The problems I had with it are the same on all animals in that its really fast with a smaller bullet. So when you are close to an animal and dont hit anything hard it doesnt expand and do any damage so you dont get a quick kill. At distance its better cause the bullet slows down. I was using the 150s cause I had practiced with them. You will do much better on bears with the 160 and 175 cause they are slower with a bigger bullet. The gun has plenty of power you just need the bullet expand and do some damage. But the gun is really straight shooting which will help if you are hunting beaches in Southeast. I would take a rangefinder too as estimating ranges across water is tough. Good luck. Previous: 7mm mag for Black Bears?
