Posted by packerzack on Mar 29 2005 any guides that work the kodiak, and or illiamna area please reply here, and i'll email you, or email me...i have some questions (private please) about employment with a certain guide that works those areas. i've commited to packing for him this fall, and would like some personal opinions on his work, ethics, any illegal activites and the like. references were good, and i have allready commited, but i'd like to know what i'm getting into from people that may know him, or have worked around him. seems like a good guy, but i am young in the business, and would rather not be associated with outlaw outfits, especially at this learning stage of my guiding career. i dont really have many doubts about him, but i am aware that there are quality guides on this forum, and would like to here what they have to say. serious resident hunters (who arent guides) that hunt these areas frequently are welcome to reply as well, but i'm mainly wanting guides opinions due to the animosity lots of local hunters have towards guides...no offense at all to res hunters in any way, i just want to get honest feedback...not negative feedback simply cause you dont like guides. thanks in advance, i will give any who reply the name of the outfit in private through email. thanks guys. i'm just a young guy thats trying to do a little homework and want opinions from those allready in the hunting fraternity. there are some guides here whom i have grown to respect due to there logical answers and the way they look at the whole picture when they reply to threads. unfortunately i am aware, as all of you are, of unscrupulous guides in ak, and i seriously dont want to find myself working for one...there's right ways to go about things. thanks all.
