was kinda wondering myself...
Posted by packerzack on Mar 29 2005
i've recently talked to larry rivers, and ralph miller (deltana)
as far as first impressions go they both seemed like great guys...but i was wondering myself.  i know that penn. bears are big, but there's knowledgable guides out there that claim theres few if any 11 footers left out there or anywhere else...most claim that it's due to trophy hunting emphasis over the last fourty or fifty years.  ...but then again i've heard alot of people around southeast say that there's no 10 foot bears in our area in southeast (lynn canal) and i know for a fact that there are true (unstretched) ten foot bears in our valley. (a select few guides take nine and ten footers here every season)  anyone know of any TRUE eleven footers taken within the last few years on the penninsula or anywhere else?  i think after looking at larry's pics on his site that the bears pictured are truly big bears, but are they really 11 footers, or maybe just one of the measurements (making ten footers) instead of the whole "squared" measurement?

by the way, larry has recently retired.  deltana hunts his areas now i beleive...or are somehow affiliated with his old operation.

good question mbastew...i'd like to know myself.
