Vents and China...
Posted by Tony Dingess on Feb 28 2005
For Mike, the upper vents are built into the fly if my memory serves me correctly. I should remember, but you may have to wait until I use it again this spring to give the accurate details on the vents. I thought I remembered upper vents in both the body and the fly, but I would not want to be quoted on that.

For Jeff, as far as I know virtually all of North Face's stuff is manufactured in China now, as is the bulk of sporting goods sold throughout the world. I have a North Face Summit Mountaineering jacket and I love it, but it does retail for $399 on Campmor (I purchased it for $179 off EBay with the fllece liner) and I am sure there are quality differences across such a wide range of products that North Face makes, but I can't complain about anything with their products as of yet. I have no particular loyalty to them, but I still haven't found much to grumble about. The tent blows the doors off the Cabela's six man Alaskan Guide Model tent that I have. By the way, you can use the fly alone if you purchase the footprint for that tent, which is a lightweight option for warmer mountain travel where bugs are of no concern.

Sincerely,
Tony Dingess
