Tents again
Posted by rost495 on Feb 26 2005
Hi folks:

I"ve gone through the archives and read a bunch.  I"m still not sure on tents.  Going to be back in Alaska in Sept  2006 (western interior).  There will be 5 of us flown in.  I'm looking for a good tent to sleep 4-5.  That way we can split up but in an emergency(IE one tent craps out etc...) we could all crowd into one tent.

I've read all the good names and did the research looking for 4 season tents.  Most all the suggested names come in 2-3 man tents.  Or a few come in 6 man versions for thousands of dollars.

I did find MSR 4-5 man 4 season around 800 bucks retail(any cheap places to buy???)

Anyway I'm not sure if MSR are ok or not.  They seem to sound and look ok.

I'm open to all suggestions though.  Although we discussed the Kifaru and thats not acceptable to some of the folks(though I think it would be just fine).

Anyway the tents will be used about once a year on serious hunts.  And should last a long time at that rate. BUT I want 2 tents I can rely on to keep us alive in Alaska under whatever circumstances.

Thanks for the input.

Jeff
