[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] natural decomposing Posted by buny hugger on Jan 26 2005 all antlers and horns deteriate over time if you would like to keep them as they are you should seal them. like the advise thats been given already except if you stain i would still recommend a poly coat to seal from natural oxidization satin does not have nearly the shine as the gloss. it also makes them easier to keep clean. for cleaning before staining i mix a small amount of borax in room temprature water 1tps gallon wipe with cloth do not saturate for it could change antler color. borax is a natural insecticide against worms and bugs. works for me 20 plus years still look the same even while the hides are bleached from sunlight. remember nothing last forever have fun.
