Chitina and Copper River access
Posted by Viking63 on May 04 2006
Last summer we walked back to the slide area the night before our charter.  The slide is easily passable by ATV and alot of guys were going back to Haley.  I saw one guy cross it in a small Toyota pickup which I thought was insane.  The state put up a sign that says basically you are on your own past the slide.  The Native access issue seems to change every year.  I have difficulty remembering the situation one year from the next.  We camped out upstream of the O Brien Creek bridge and the boats launched at the mouth of O Brien.  So last year access was not an issue.
