Question for Daveinthebush...Valdez
Posted by fishnhuntr on May 03 2006
Dave,
It seems you've got the Valdez area expertise from all I've read on here. Couple questions for you if you have the time. I'm heading down there for memorial day weekend for but's/kings. I've never tried but's out of my own boat so this'll be a first. Being earlier in the season what would you say is a good target depth for halibut, we'll probably start out around Naked Island, or are the bays on the way out decent early in the year?
Secondly, do you go after the kings much? Am thinking about targeting them one day, or more if the weather turns sour. I've fished silvers a lot in Valdez, have never targeted kings. Any advice on general areas, tackle, depth, etc. would be greatly appreciated. May not be able to provide much in return unless you come up to the interior, live in North Pole, but if I run in to you down there beers on me! Appreciate it.
Cody
