The Cost of Fishing...
Posted by AlaskanAuthor on Apr 21 2006
All sport fishermen will pay an additional $9 for the 2006 license.
This was approved by Senate Bill 147 in August of 2005.

This surcharge applies to resident and non-resident. It was added to provide for $69 million in hatchery enhancement programs state-wide.

That's a 60% increase in personal cost that will generate about $5 million more per year. ADF&G gets about $12 million from the sale of licenses each year, plus another $12 milion from taxes collected on sporting goods. They put it to excellent use.

Yeah, we all pay more, but the fishery that this state provides is worth the price...
