boat drop offs
Posted by B_M on Mar 29 2006
Kr. K - What AlaskanAuthor wrote about fly-out fishing is true, but it looks like you're looking for a drop-off via boat?  If that's the case, you may be referring to the boat services out of Talkeetna.  Talkeetna is about a 2 hour drive north of Anchorage.  There are a few services there that will take you in their jet boats to some pretty good spots.  As far as uncrowded, that depends on the time of year and species.  During the king run even the drop-off spots are crowded, but in late July you should be fine.  Look up Talkeetna riverboat services, if this is what you want to do.

There's also some good road accessible fishing south of Anchorage where you can hike away from the crowds.  Spend some time searching through the archives here...there's a wealth of info!

Good luck!

-Brian
