[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] pike Posted by Ripface on Mar 26 2006 I checked out that link and now I'm drooling. Stu, I live in Bloomington in the Twin Cities now, and I admit I have a problem. I'm addicted to pike fishing. I hit a lake 22 miles into the Boundary Waters every year to fish big pike. I accidentally caught a 13.5 lb., 33" walleye two years ago while fishing for pike. And the biggest pike I missed up here was an estimated 50". I saw it from my kayak as it hit my small white buzzbait. It was about 20-25' away from me. It was bigger than any muskie I've seen in person. It could have gone 48", but I'm guessing closer to 50, and the girth was outstanding. Fishing them (and muskies) from my kayak gets the blood pumping big-time because they often display aerial acrobatics that find them jumping onto/over the bow of my kayak, or coming close to landing inside of it. I'll ring you when I get settled and maybe we can bust open that state record. And, I've heard Ireland and Alaska probably have the best chance for a new world record. I'm keeping all my huge muskie lures for some AK pike fishing. Previous: Pike godevilalaska Mar 25 2006 Message Thread:
