general fishing advice for AK first timer?
Posted by BPL on Feb 25 2006
We are traveling to AK for the first time this year last 2 weeks of June.  Have already planned a guided trip out of Soldotna at the start of the trip.  Besides the Kenai we are staying in Valdez, Kennicott, Tok, North Pole, Chena Hot Springs, Denali Nat'l Park and Palmer.  Flying in and out of Anchorage and driving the loop.  Any suggestions for fishing on our own along the way? Good access places to stop along the road?  Recommended gear to purchase in Anchorage?  Have experience with fly fishing in MT, WY, etc., and have gear for that.  Not sure if I should bring it or not.  Will need to purchase whatever necessary.  Any tips appreciated.
