is easy to fish, but you will have company most of the time. You can rent a car at the airport or in town, the road used to be only paved 22 miles out but now is paved to about mile 35 or so, past the Olds and Kalsin rivers.
Reds come in as early as June, pinks are in from July-August. Silvers are good in September-October, although they were way late this year. Generally, you can fish from the highway bridges downstream to the ocean until mid-September, when the rivers are usually opened up so you can fish upstream of the bridges.
It is mostly sight fishing, so bring good polaroid glasses and fly or spin gear. Some people use roe sacks for silvers to reduce the chance of a pink hitting the bait. Monashka River has a new artificial run for kings, but I do not know how well it has caught on yet.
