chuit is fine

You musta told the guy at the lodge that you weren't gonna stay there:
He could be pullin your leg. IMO, the fish are unusually large on the chuit, flyfishing conditions very good, and access is no issue, in fact, ADFG has a website that describes the access in detail. If there were any problem with natives taking too many fish or attempting to close off access, ADFG would deal with it (and has) . Just google "chuit" AND "access" and you'll find the info.
Yes, fishing is in latter part of june for kings; after that it is closed even though there are fish there. I was there ~1999 or thereabouts, in mid-July. There were silvers by then but still spawning kings. Early, but too bad, actually. Caught some kings incidentally, but did not have gear to land them. The fishing is pretty close to salt, so expect a fight from whatever you catch.
Nushagak is a much bigger system with many more fish, and farther away, and would cost more to get to.
Good luck
I was there
