Two features that I’d insist on making allowances for are the strength/durability dynamic to the weight relationship or how the rod will influence command over your various catch opportunities.

For the Alaskan All-arounder certainly by definition it is a compromise rod.  That understood, for settling on this middle ground I would use a proven #9 blank of reputable modulus and slender composition (lots of ‘em out there) having a tough, wide & accommodating reel seat, good eyes, plus a slightly heavier epoxy coating for resisting chips and withstanding abuse (not necessarily while fishing).  

Lifetime Warranty and first-rate customer service couldn’t hurt.

I believe the chief oversight you can make coming to Alaska is to carry no more than one rod!
