Yes, Bigcountry, what limits you is the requirement to take all salmon with the one rod. That takes you up to the 10 wt size right away. I find myself using an 8 wt for everything else besides kings, although again some will say they go a lot lighter. When you play a fish for 30 minutes to an hour on a lighter rod, it does wear them out a lot more than if you just use a rod where you can get them in quicker. For C&R, long play time usually results in a severe impact to the fish. So go with a 10 for ALL salmon, use an 8 for silvers/chum/reds, and no less than a 7 for pinks.
