I also use the Ace Line Hauler and will NEVER go back to pulling my pots up by hand.  I can't speak about the the buoy and ring system since I've never used it, other than for pulling my anchor.  

In my opinion, the Ace Line Hauler is pricey, but it's well worth the investment.
