[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] winter pike slowdown Posted by Gary W. on Jan 17 2006 In my experience over a number of years fishing pike through the ice, typically the action slows around mid- January. From all I have read and researched, Pike lose their teeth starting around this time of year (it can vary with conditions and locations) and until they grow new ones there is not much of a bite going on. I always found that late February and the month of March had a definite upswing in catch rates versus Jan. and Mid Feb. Hope this helps.
