The right boat
Posted by PastorBob on Jan 03 2006
For salt water fishing your boat would be okay close in, years ago I had an 18' aluminum deep V and I would go out a ways if the water wasn't too bad. But it wasn't a CC, it had a windshield and covered area to get out of the weather. I have seen open boats up to 20 miles out but they were all dressed in heavy duty rain gear. That would be my main concern with a CC, it would be a wet ride in any kind of seas even if it wasn't raining. Even if you have a flared bow it throws the spray up and the wind blows it back on you.

You would be able to have a lot of fun with your boat up here but its really not the right boat for the rivers (the deep V part). It wouldn't be a bad boat to take out of Steward as it can probably run pretty fast and you could come in if things starting getting a little much but you would need good rain gear.

If there is a good demand for CC's in your area you might consider selling it before you come up. In general you would really want something with a cabin to fish in the salt and something with a flat bottom for the rivers.
