Mich.Man,

Your plan sounds really good, however I think you will find the fishing on the Kenai a bit limited around Jims Landing.  There are other trails that will get you to the Kenai that may offer different fishing opportunities, like Hidden Creek Trail (off of Skilak Loop Rd).  Fishing at Jims is certainly possible but most use a boat to either fish from Kenai Lake to Jims or from Jims to Skilak.  Check the regulations closely on approved tackle...

Quartz and Ptarmigan will be just picking up around the dates of your trip.  Expect company because of the easy access.

Also consider fishing the Kasilof for silvers.  Should be really good around this time.  Again, there are good bank fishing options, but a boat will definitely improve the odds.
