Much closer
Posted by B_M on Aug 31 2005
Go straight across Kachemak Bay towards Petersen Bay.  Fish about 3/4 of a mile or so off of the point that curls from Petersen Bay around towards the next cove, in the direction of Halibut Cove.  I'm sure it's not the best spot around, but I fished it last May and we caught 8 halibut in about an hour right at the high slack tide.  We also caught a few cod, but they make GREAT bait, and are decent eating as well.  The halibut were all small, but again, those are great eating.

You don't need to go far...
