Anchorage in Sept

Hi
I will be in Anchorage for a conference in late-Sept, and have two evenings free. I'm planning to rent a car and go sight seeing, but if there's fishing opportunities nearby I'll bring a spin casting rod (or pick up a cheapie there, if there is such a thing). I'd be solely catching and releasing, just for the fun of it, no need to bring fish home.
Any recommendations on where to go? I'd prefer salmon, but still happening that late? Lure recommendations?
As well, if anyone has suggestions on sights not to miss, that's appreciated too.
