Kobuk for Shee, Nome for Dolly
Posted by LegionSix on Jul 31 2005
Had great sheefishing in the Kobuk River late August.  Try upriver of Kobuk Village close to the Pah River.  The world record came from that area I believe.  Any large spoon seemed to work.  We caught them on the low side of about 12 pounds, and on the high side of about 30 pounds.  For Dolly or Char fishing (I could never tell the difference), I had great luck on the Pilgrim River north of Nome. All the rivers around Nome hold some great Dolly/Char fishing, but the biggest I found was in the Pilgrim.  Floating a single egg or using a small spoon like a castmaster seemed to work best for me.
