Fairbanks Burbot
Posted by Kenaimike on Jun 30 2005

The confluence is usually your best bet.  In some places it's best to fish the "murk line"--where murky glacial water encounters clear(er) water.  I think the burbot (and pike) hide in the murk and come out to hit the food (bait) items when they are seen.

When I lived in Fbks, one location was behind the airport where the Chena dumps into the Tanana.  It could be fished from the bank.  Typically it produced hammer handles, but good eating!  Being close to the airport that may be a national security issue now  :-(

Good luck,

--Mike
