Help Seward Halibut/Salmon
Posted by B on Jun 29 2005
If you live in Alaska you will get skunked if you fish enough.  (Alaskan Author)Your reply of never being skunked may be true but is sort of misleading.  You must fish where and when the fish are in.  If you fish 100 plus days a year including off seson (not prime) for native species then you will experience being skunked.  If you are visiting AK, are here when the fish are in, during reasonable weather, and go with a quality guide, I would say your chance of getting skunked goes down exponentially.  You may get skunky smell to yourself due to nonstop catching and lack of time to shower but i would say you can count on catching something if you do your research.  Also don't be afraid to research doing your own thing and going for it, but educate yourself to the hazards (driving, weather, wildlife, tresspaasing, etc,...).

As for my opinion for Seward charters I do prefer Andy M. and Crackerjack Charters.  He catches some good quality fish, is safe, and does not skimp.  Top notch guy.

Enjoy your stay!
