THere are limited areas to "legally" access this river.  The Richardson bridge is as good as any.  THere are also trails at sailors pit (mp 129) Poplar Grove (mp ?) and MP 141 trail and Sourdough Campground (MP 152?).  You can purchase permits from the Gulkana Village to access other areas.
