Hey all, first post so here goes.  Thought I'd try downriggers for halibut off deep creek last monday.  I ended up going back to 4lbs. lead lol.  I've always used the slip on lead holders so i can feel the nibbles on my bait.  Well, trying to use my downriggers posed two issues.
1.  line release would not hold well enough in the running tide. Any slight pull from me and line would release.
2.  Could not figure out a way to feel nibbles or am I missing somthing?

I did try putting a sliding lead holder in the line release so I might be able to feel nibbling butt, but, my wife kept catching butt with the old lead ball so i ended up doing the same.

I use J Hooks only as I am a "Hook Setter".  Cannot stand circle hooks
