Posted by covert80 on May 25 2005 The Russian at that time will be near the tail end of the first run of reds and just before the second run. This might play to your favor by meaning a slight lag in the masses of red fisherman. Since most of what the bows and dollies are eating at this time seems to be flesh from carcasses, I would suggest a brighter orange/pink tint to the flesh flies than what would normally be used later in the year. Some of the biggest bows and dollies I have caught have been on the Kenai and Russian just below cleaning tables. For that matter, the good old Russian River fly in white/orange has caught some of my biggest there (while I was salmon fishing).
