Depth finders in rivers
Posted by godevilalaska on Apr 28 2005
I agree completely with dreamcatcher on the LCD displays. I decided they were a waste of money for the rivers. I got a Vexilar 3 color flasher for ice fishing and because of how well it discriminated decided to try it in my riverboat. I was able to epoxy the puck type transducer to the inside floor of the boat and shoot through the hull. The 3 color display updates fast enough to give me a real time disply of depth up to my max speed (about 25 mph) and if I slow down I can identify a fish within 2 inches of the bottom. The best part is I got it used on e-bay for a good price and it had 2 transducers.
