I'm assuming that by the time you secure your RV, it will be late in the day or early evening.

Regardless of which way you go, make sure you rest outside of Anchorage before you start your journey. Starting your trip in the dark is not advised due to being tired, plus missing great scenery.

Bird's a good spot to spend the night but reservations are necessary. If you can't make Bird then Portage down the road should have the space.

The fish will wait for you no matter which road you decide to take. As for you little boy, I've seen a lot of them broke-in at the Fishing Hole on the Homer Spit.
