You’re a little too early for the Reds in the Russian. If you get a guide and fish the Kenai for Kings you should have a good chance of catching one. I personally like fishing the Parks highway rivers; the Susitna and its tributaries, Willow, Sheep, or Montana creek. That time of year is early in the run so you will likely have better luck on the Susitna or Willow creek. If the fish are in it will be combat fishing, a guide with a boat would greatly increase your odds. However you can certainly catch from the bank with out a guide. Just talk to someone at one of the tackle shops in Wasilla, they are usually good about letting folks know if the Kings are in yet and where their at in the river system.
