Kenai July 26 - August 5
Posted by Propilot on Apr 21 2005
I am planning a family vacation to Alaska.  We will be renting a R.V. in Anchorage and we plan on traveling Seward to Homer.  Originally I planned  on spending the first night at Bird Creek, Seward for three days, Cooper Landing two days, Homer three days and then going back to Anchorage.  Ater reading through several of these forums and following the links I am wondering if my opportunities for catching fish wpould be better if we worked our way down the Kenai River first and ened our trip in Seward instead of starting the trip in Seward?  I also wanted to know if I should spend only one night at Cooper Landing and one night in Soldotna instead of two nights in Cooper Landing?

Can anyone recommend guides that might be better suited for family fishing on the Kenai river, Homer and Seward?  My wife has never reeled in a fish and I have a six year old son.  I don't think halibut or King fishing makes much sense because of the lack of experience or stength so we will probably focus on Reds  in the Kenai, ocean caught Silvers and rock fish.  Given the age of my son would  I need to pay for a six person boat for just the three of us?  It would be pretty expensive, but I wouldn't want to infinge on someone else's Alaska experience.   We do spend time together boating and fishing here in MN.  I  have been to Alaska twice in the last two years fishing and my family is excited about coming after seeing the pictures.

Next: Now that you've arrived... AlaskanAuthor Apr 22 2005
