Council will consider halibut guidline harvest lev

The NPFMC is apparently fast tracking the Guideline harvest level for the halibut sport charter fleet. This entity is just as bad or worse than IFQs. If the fleet hits the level, boats will be forced to reduce catches the following year. Again, there is no biological issue here. Commercial fishermen do not want charters cutting into "their" 85% of the halibut.

As usual, the meeting takes place mid season. June 3-9th with no agenda published. Go figure.
