[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] homer update (p.s. - thanks homerdave) Posted by nickster on Mar 27 2005 Finally broke the winter doldrums by getting out on one of the winter king charters down in Homer (took your recommendation for Richard and was quite pleased - thanks homerdave!). Nothing near Seldovia, large swells and blowing snow. Tried the halibut grounds where one boat was getting a couple butts about 210 ft. Too choppy for us to want to anchor, so headed to the bluffs where wind was less. About eight boats were in the same area. Saw and heard of 2 fish taken, then the swells picked up and we were all alone. Trolling in 70-75 ft., about one pm I got two straight fish, 15 and 20 pounds right about 50 ft. deep. We lost another nice one right after, but swells were getting eye-to-eye with us, and with the only other guy on board (other than capt.) pretty green (sea-sick), we headed in with my limit. Really nice to have fresh fish - kings at that - in March, and a heck of a way to shake the winter blues. Next: guess what.... homerdave Mar 27 2005 Message Thread:
