Some Dolly Varden are available along the shoreline but you would need some time to explore. One option you might want to consider is fishing for King salmon at the "pond" on Douglas Island. This is a terminal hatchery area and is open for snagging, but you can have good success tossing spinners or hanging roe under a float (my preferred method). This can also be done at the McCauley fish hatchery a mile north of downtown. Both of these areas are right off the road system and if the fish are in then it can be a blast...
