spectra

My favorite spectra braid is ....Berkley whiplash. It has the thinest diameter and a protective coating to help with abraision.
I have fished 80 for years and have never broken a fish off because of the line strength. The reels we use in Alaska only apply 12 - 25 pounds of drag, unless you send the reel to CA to hsve it modified or if your reel flat out seizes up.
If i were a `private boater, I would use 50 -65 pound, lighter lead and smaller rod and reel and enjoy the battle.
