Oh, I didn't mean to imply that we got ALL our herring for the summer in one day...this was back when I was 10 thru 13 or 14...We'd pedal down to the harbor almost daily each guy with a rod and a 5 gallon bucket, usually after school and on weekends...after a week or 10 days the numbers added up...although we usually wound up buying herring by Sept..SOME years it lasted all season...
