GPSnavX
Posted by fishin fool on Apr 26 2006
I've been using GPSnavX on an identical laptop for over a year now with no complaints.  I have mine hooked up to a handheld garmin and it works like a champ.  The free charts from NOAA work great with the software.  Not a bunch of silly features that you wouldn't use, just a solid application.  I'm sure there's a way to split the feed from your current receiver into the computer and your existing Furuno.  The pelican case that's designed for laptops is a great fit-and you can usually grab it used on ebay for about $100.

Hope that helps.

I don't have any experience with GPSy Pro.
