Whittier to Valdez and back

My brother in law & I are planning a 4 day trip to Valdez from Whittier this summer. Does anyone have advice on where to overnight midway (approx) on the north side of PWS? We're planning to go mid August (pending weather), and will be looking for scenery, silvers (maybe shark) & stray buts. All advice is welcomed.
