[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Be careful at the show Posted by PastorBob on Jan 25 2006 Went to the last show that Dewey’s put on and was admiring the boats and got up on a nice looking boat that wasn’t a Hewes. It was welded aluminum with a good size cabin, at least 26’ long with twin 115s. The factory rep for the boat manufacturer saw me and got up on the boat to see if I had any questions. I mentioned that I thought the rule of thumb for twins was that each had to be big enough to bring a boat up on step. When he answered I noticed that he didn’t say so himself but said that Yamaha told the boat builder that size motor could do that for that boat and said, “granted it might take a while.” I think you would have to find someplace where the ocean ran down hill to get that boat up on plane with a single 115, especially carrying the weight of another dead 115 and any mix of people, fuel and gear.
