Lots of good ones
Posted by Paul H on Aug 01 2005
There are lots of good outboards out there, honda, yamaha, tohatsu, suzuki would probably rank as tops in reliability/durability.  One thing to consider since you'll be swapping from boat to boat is weight, and the Tohatsu 9.9 horse 4-stroke is considerably lighter then the rest, 80# vs 100# for the others.

If I was to pick one motor as likely to be the most reliable and longest lasting, it would be the Honda, but they are spendy, and I don't know that you'd really get that much more life out of it than other brands.
