Flying jet boats
Posted by 180pilot on Jul 19 2005
Well I hedged my bet, when I bought my pump.  Outboard Jet assures me that with only $ 200 in  parts, my current pump can be converted to fit the new Tohatsu 4 stroke 30 hp. which weighs 150 #'s if I have to.

Glad to see your interest and development of this type of boat, and I would like to see the chaps at Aire succeed with their's too.  I feel the more boat manufacturers that get involved, a better design will evolve much faster.

Even though my Cessna 180 can carry more than the Cub. Every lb. adds up to needing a longer take off run, or more trips back and forth.  I hope to put together a rig which can get two ultralight equiped hunters up stream. Harvest our game, then drift back down, heavy, to my plane with paddle power.  Of course, then the engine  becomes dead weight unless some gas is left for some push in flat water stretches.   But, being able to dismiss all the logistics and costs of flying to a put in and a take out, (which has always meant a second friend's aircraft for me, or hiring a float plane ), with weather delays, etc., etc. is the big plus.  And once back to the plane and fuel, a second trip up stream for the second animal is a possibility.  I already hear those starting to type " that little narrow  boat won't handle the weight down stream,........ after I strap on the two outboard inflatable pontoons from a small cat, that have been rolled up, it will. Yes, a "Tom Sawyer" rig!

Regards
