Bigger Alaskan Jet Rangers on the drawing board.
Posted by Alaska Series Inflatable Boats on Jul 19 2005
180 it seams that just when you get the game figured out someone changes the rules!  LOL

From what I understand this is not the last year for 2-storke motors.. However after this year only 10% of outboard production can be less then the 4-stroke EPA standards. This means the 25/20 Mercury jet will be in short supply.

The 4-stroke 25Hp motors are now in the 140-pound ranges.  I'm not totally sure if they will still fit the after market jet pumps or not. If they do I figure this will make a 4-stroke jet weigh in at around 153 pounds or so. I can modify the 401AJR to fit this weight motor with very little change to the boat.

The past 2 years I've been working on a larger series of Alaskan Jet Rangers in the 420AJR, 450AJR, 480AJR, 500AJR and 520AJR.  My first prototype will be in the 420AJR. It will fit the 40Hp Jet outboards with no problem. The design will be a cross between my Alaskan Ranger boats with a new lighter weight floor system and the same hull engineering that makes the 401AJR work so well with a jet pump. The 420AJR should end up weighing just less than 200 pounds and break down into two packages. The hull displacement will be around 2000 pounds for the 420AJR and around 2900 pounds for the 520AJR.
I hope to be product testing the 420AJR sometime late this fall.

I just love the product testing part of this job!!

Good Boating
