An aluminum boat has a lot less drag then the inflatables thus more speed and power.  And I think 4 upriver was a tall tale unless they were going very slowly.  Definately not up on step.  Three 225 lb guys and we could not even get close to being on step upriver.  Yes we made progress but slowly.  If you want more information email me I'm not sure if everyone wants to hear my opinions.  And don't get me wrong I love my jet ranger but it's not an all around boat.  It's built for a purpose and does excellent at it.
