The Yukon moves along pretty fast
Posted by Alaska Series Inflatable Boats on Jul 07 2005
I just got back from a float trip on the 40-mile river and floated out the Yukon from the mouth of the 40-mile to the Town of Eagle. With our GPS we clocked our speed on the Yukon at just under 6MPH. And that was with a strong head wind. You need allot of HP to go up stream in a current like that.  Just rafting down we had to plan a long ways ahead and row like crazy to land our raft on the short we were aiming for. If I were living on the Yukon River I think I’d choose at least a 40-50 hp outboard motor, or more, and a boat that would match it.
