What to chose
Posted by Snowwolfe on Jun 20 2005
Paul offered some great advice. One thing I would like to add is if you go with twins then each motor must be big enough to get you on plane by its self. Otherwise there would be very little (maybe 2 mph)if any speed advantage between a small kicker and a bigger motor unable to get you on plane. If you go with a single I would recommend one of the Yamaha High Thrust motors. They seem to be the kicker of choice for most bigger boats. They have lower gearing and turn bigger props over the other High Thrust motors. If it were my boat I would go with a big single and a kicker.
