This is good and bad: good for getting to water, bad for keeping the boat off the gravel bars. It is a trade-off. I just bought a flat-bottom with an inboard and tunnel; the cavitating is acceptible. I am NOT SOLD at all on having an inboard and a tunnel, however, and don't see the point to the combination now that I have experienced it a little. I can not see how the tunnel maintains the performance of the inboard with no tunnel. I would think a 1" tunnel would be all you need to keep the intake out of harm's way, and it would perform better than a deep tunnel. Just a gut feeling; I am not sure "the crowd" is correct on pushing this combination. NOTE: With a deep tunnel you have ZERO reverse, and need to modify the water diverter, set pipes into the hull, or something. That is more than you asked for, but, hey, it was free, so don't complain. later. j Previous: boat SuperDick Jun 03 2005 Message Thread:
