A Few Suggestions
Posted by Tracey Harmon on May 24 2005
Stainless,

One of the problems I see regularly with inflatable boat users is the failure to keep the boat, and the keel, properly inflated. Possibly you are not in this class of operators but I suggest you make sure that your craft is inflated "drum tight". As far as I know your boat, Mercury, is a welded plastic inflatable. It should easily take four pounds of pressure. Try using a good quality gauge and test your boat at various air pressures. I make this suggestion because my Power Traveler will take four adults up Twenty Mile, using the same motor, as long as the boat is rigid. If the appropriate rigidity cannot be achieved with air you may need a small metal rowing frame to help the boat. A frame certainly makes a difference with most inflatables, and allows one to drift in a controlled manner.

Good luck,

Tracey
