shoe fins
Posted by fishslayer on May 23 2005
I don't know about the inflatable, but I have a 16 foot Grumman john boat with a 55 Johnson Jet and I just added fins to the shoe. It was a little work but not bad. There are two pins that hold all the flat protection bars into the bottom of the shoe. Those pins have to be tapped out and the new fins come with bolts to replace them. It was a fairly easy job. The fins helped on my boat as it doesn't cavitate in choppy water anymore. I don't know if it would help yours. From what I have researched you need the bottom of the boat to be flat for the last 2 or so feet before the jet unit, and the shoe should be about 1/4 inch lower than the bottom.
