early kenai boating
Posted by geoff156 on Apr 30 2005
Typically you start seeing power boats on the kenai mid may but these are guys who know the river well because it is still very low that time of year with lots of exposed gravel bars and limited travel. The river is usually at a good level by june but will still be a little low. Drift boating is the best way to fish the kenai in may.
It all depends on the winter snow level and how fast it melts as to when the kenai will be at a safe level for power boats. If your not well expierienced on the kenai youll tear up your prop up in may.
